A podcast is a voice recording that you can make for pretty much and reason and post pretty much anywhere, you can even upload them to your ipod to listen to them. There are many ways that podcasting in education can fit into the NETS-T standards. The first type of podcast you could do is to have the students create their own podcast as a class project. I think that this fits the first standard the most because the first standard states that it facilitates and inspires students learning and creativity. This activity lets the students think creativly, therefor doing creative work. This also enagages students and allows them to use digital tools and resources in a way furthering their education even more. It lets the students reflect of what they specifically learned and to present it in a creative and innovative way.
Another possible use of a podcast in education is to have the teacher have a website for the class so that when the students miss a class they can go on the website and get the assignments they missed. This kinda of fits into standard two, design and develop digital-age learning experiences and assesments. The fact that they have to access the internet to get their assignments and complete them gets tehm more involved in the digital age and helps them learn tech savvy. This process helps the children learn how to maximize content learning. You can also post whole podcasted lessons on there for students that were not in class so they still have the same information as the rest of the class and do not fall behind.
Another thing that teachers can do is to make podcasts about teaching tips and feedback to other teachers and maybe have a website at each school or district for all the teachers to collaborate and give feedback. This fits into the fifth standard, engage in professional growth and leadership. you participate in learning communities to explore creative ways to teach students from other teachers past successes. You can also contribute to the effectivness of the teaching profession in your school and community but giving your own tips and feedback in podcast form that anyone can access and listen to.

My First Post!!!
Reflective Post
I believe that the MS Office that we have learned in class will effectivly help us meet the NETS standards for teachers. I believe that the MS Office will help facilitate and inspire students learning and creativity. This is the first standard of the NETS. I think this standard means that the teacher uses what she knows about the subject to help children better understand it and then be better able to be creative and be able to use technology to further their knowledge. I feel that the tools of Word, and PPT will help children be able to be more creative when they are doing a project about a particular subject or be able to incorporate pictures and movies into a presentation about it. I think this supports and make then think more creativly and be innovative.
I think that this software will also help to engage in professional growth and leadership. I think this one is importiant to teachers. The Excel is a very good tool for teachers to have because they can use it to keep track of things such as attendence as well as grades and it will update it when you add new scores. I think that this meets the standard because it helps to make the teacher more effective and contributes to the vitality and self-renewal of the porfession and the school of the teacher.
I think that it also applys to designing and developing digital-age learning experiments and assessments. Teachers can use MS Office to develop learning experiances that are new to the student but that will let them incorporate tools into their learning process. I think they can use the computer to give students assignments that incorporate technology kind of like we did in class. I think that what we have learned in class goes with the NETS, otherwise we probably would not be learning it.
